Evening Forecast for Thursday 06/27/13

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for southeastern and south central Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The watch, in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday, covers Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia and Schuylkill counties in Pennsylvania.

New Jersey counties under the watch include Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset and Warren counties.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area, forecasters said.

People in the area should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions, which could include heavy rain, hail and damaging wind gusts.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible overnight Thursday into Friday. Otherwise, look for variably cloudy skies along with humid conditions and lows in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

More unsettled weather is in store for our area through the upcoming weekend with a few showers and thunderstorms possible each day. Any thunderstorm moving across the area from now through the weekend could be on the strong to severe side, with drenching downpours (minor flooding possible), strong gusty winds, and some hail.

We will also remain warm and humid over the next several days, with highs holding in the middle 80s through the weekend and most of next week.
