Police hope surveillance video will help lead to the arrests of several people who stole dozens of donated toys from a playground in Berks County.

WEST READING, Pa. -

Police hope surveillance video will help lead to the arrests of several people who stole dozens of donated toys from a playground in Berks County.

The theft happened Friday at the West Reading Playground, near 5th Avenue and Sycamore Road.

The toys were being stored inside a pavilion that was accidentally left unlocked, police said.

Surveillance cameras captured video of five people, including at least one child, carrying the toys away from the playground, police said.

"There were adults that brought children along to commit the theft against other children," said Detective Joe Brown, West Reading Police Dept. "It's saddening to see that people would do something like that, and then involve children in it."

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

WFMZ's Dwayne Parker will have more on this story on 69 News at 5:30.
