Kohl's in Lower Nazareth
LOWER NAZARETH TWP., Pa. -

Two women headed to the men's fitting room area to hide items they intended to shoplift, officials said.

Cathleen Cronin and Cathleen M. Bacon were stopped wearing stolen garments underneath their clothing and with stolen cosmetics and jewelry in purses and a bag as they tried to leave the Kohl's department store at 3768 Easton-Nazareth Highway, Lower Nazareth Twp., Northampton Co., at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

The women paid for some of the $274.42 worth of merchandise they had taken from the store shelves, and also left behind other items they had removed from their packaging, officials said.

Store officials are asking for restitution of $55.99 for a pair of shoes one of the women was wearing, officials said, although court papers did not specify which woman was wearing the shoes.

Cronin and Bacon, both 48 and both of 318 Carbon St., Easton, were arraigned early Wednesday morning on charges of retail theft, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property and released on $1,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing for both women was set fr 9 a.m. June 3.
