ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Local brewers are raising a glass to a proposal introduced by Senator Bob Casey.

The senator outlined the Small Brewer Reinvestment and Expanding Workforce Act at an event Monday morning at the Brew Works in Allentown.

The bill would cut taxes for small breweries across the country.

Casey says the measure would create 5,000 jobs in the first 18 months and increase economic activity by more than $1 billion over five years.

"Passing legislation that will provide some measure of support, not a magic wand, not everything, but some measure of support, some measure of relief to small brewers, any action, any bill that does that, I think is worthy of passage," Casey said.

Officials at the Brew Works say the legislation would allow them to add another employee to the payroll.
