Blizzard needs a loving home
POTTSVILLE, Pa. -

A dog nicknamed "Blizzard," which was found abandoned in McAdoo, is up for adoption at the Hillside SPCA in Pottsville, Schuylkill County.

McAdoo Police Officer Tony DiVirgilio said the dog was found about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday tied to a "no parking" sign at South Kennedy and East Adams streets in McAdoo.

Parts of the dog's body were frozen to the ground as a result of below-freezing temperatures, and three steel pellets were found embedded in the dog's skin.

Police believe the dog may have been used for dog fighting.

"The dog is now doing fine and is up for adoption," said a spokesman at the SPCA.

Hillside SPCA's number is 570-622-7769 for adoption inquiries.

Anyone with information on who left the dog tied to the sign is asked to call McAdoo police at 570-929-2590
