A new chief has been selected to take the helm of the Western Berks Regional Police Department.

WERNERSVILLE, Pa. -

A new chief has been selected to take the helm of the Western Berks Regional Police Department.

William Schlichter will become the department's second chief on July 1, the police commission said Monday.

The current chief, Scott Wagner, is retiring at the end of August. He will help with the transition, officials said.

The Western Berks Regional Police Department, formed in 2010, covers Wernersville and Robesonia.
