Demolition crews are set to tear down a building that began falling to pieces on Tuesday.

The call for a "building collapse" came in around 5 p.m. from the corner of Buttonwood and Birch streets in Reading.

WFMZ's Ryan Hughes reported that a number of bricks fell from the second floor of the building, which used to be home to the Birch Tavern.

The building's owner, who was living in the building with no utilities, was temporarily placed in handcuffs for refusing to cooperate with investigators on the scene, officials said. He has since been released.

Inspectors on the scene have determined that the building is not structurally sound and needs to be torn down.

Officials told 69 News that the building has had problems in the past, and neighbors couldn't be happier to see the building being demolished.
