Speed appears to be a factor in a crash that trapped a woman inside her SUV and closed a stretch of the West Shore Bypass, police said.

WYOMISSING, Pa. -

Speed appears to be a factor in a crash that trapped a woman inside her SUV and closed a stretch of the West Shore Bypass, police said.

The accident happened around 2:45 p.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes of the highway, also designated as Route 422, about a quarter-mile before the North Wyomissing Boulevard interchange in Wyomissing.

Emergency crews used the jaws of life to free the woman trapped inside the SUV. She was then put into a waiting ambulance and transported to the hospital, but police said her injuries were not serious.

The eastbound lanes of the West Shore Bypass were closed to traffic while crews cleared away the wreckage.
