Desmond Cole turned himself in

The Easton man who led police on a chase across parts of Lehigh and Berks counties in May turned himself in to Allentown police on Friday, officials announced Monday.

Desmond Cole faces a felony charge of fleeing police and misdemeanor charges that include accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.

Cole, 21, took off on May 15 when Upper Macungie Township police tried to stop him for speeding on Route 222 in Lehigh County. He led officers on a nearly 25-mile-long chase into Berks County.

He hit another car in Kutztown, but kept going. He ditched his car in Muhlenberg Township and escaped on foot into nearby woods.

Cole jumped out of the car while it was still moving and it hit a house, causing minor damage.
