Pieces of local history are being preserved in northern Berks County.
The Albany Township Historical Society received a bell and records from the Wessnersville one room school house in Stoney Run.
The schoolhouse closed its doors to students in 1958. Some of the records go back to the 1800s.
"It's important to keep our artifacts in tact and in the area as much as possible," said Jonathan Bond, president, Albany Township Historical Society. "Also, kids can come visit our historical society and see maybe what school was like half a century to a century ago."
A woman who drew pictures on the chalkboard in 1958 was invited to stop by and check out her work Thursday. She said she's amazed the pictures haven't been erased.
