Police say two armed robbers are on the loose and they need your help to catch them.
The Microplay Video Games store in Muhlenberg Twp., Berks Co., was robbed in a violent attack Monday night.
Police say two robbers entered the video game store located on N. Fifth Street Highway in the K-Mart complex around 7 p.m.
"I was pretty upset," said Microplay owner Douglas Demotta.
Demotta says he was shocked to find out, that after his employee turned over the money from the cash register, one of the robbers pistol whipped him.
"From what we understand, he was not handing over his wallet fast enough. And that was the problem," said Demotta.
"It is very disturbing, given the fact that these robbers used such violence. Even after getting what they wanted, they still struck the clerk over the head," said Muhlenberg Township Police Sergeant Joel Marino.
Demotta says it seemed to be an organized effort. While one robber was taking the money from the clerk, the other was standing guard at the door.
Demotta says he had to get a gate after they had a few break-ins in the past, but he never expected his small independent store to be a target for robbers.
"I would not have expected this. We had heard that there was a couple bank robberies, but that is much more money than what we would have here," said Demotta.
Now police want your help to find the robbers.
"We would really like the public's cooperation and help in trying to find these guys before somebody gets hurt or possibly even killed," said Marino.
There are no surveillance pictures. One of the robbers was wearing a brown coat with a camouflage ski mask. There is no description of the second robber. If you have any information call Muhlenberg Twp. Police.
