READING, Pa. -

Natural gas rates are about to drop for UGI customers.

The rates will be decrease, effective Dec. 1, due to lower wholesale natural gas costs, according to a news release from UGI.

The average residential heating customer’s bill will decrease approximately 6.3 percent, from $92.36 to $86.55 per month, according to UGI.

“We are pleased to offer this cost reduction to our customers as we enter the winter heating season,” UGI Utilities Vice President of Rates Paul Szykman said in a news release. “The availability of significant supplies of locally produced Marcellus Shale gas continues to have a beneficial impact on natural gas prices. UGI natural gas prices remain very affordable. Also, many new customers who’ve recently converted to natural gas from other fuels will be seeing extra savings.”
