SPRING TWP., Pa. -

An effort to reduce prescription drug abuse in Berks County has expanded to a college campus.

A drop box for prescription drugs has been installed at the Perkins Student Center at Penn State University's Berks campus in Spring Township.

There are already 16 drop boxes scattered in Berks County.

"Frankly, many of the drugs that are put into these pharmaceutical drop boxes are very addictive and to safely be able to dispose of them will prevent many people from becoming addicted," said District Attorney John Adams.

The boxes allow anyone to drop off any type of medicine year-round.
