Police say driver was high on heroin

Police say a woman high on heroin ran a police vehicle off the road near the Montgomery-Berks county border.

The incident began around 12 p.m. Friday in West Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.

According to court documents, 19-year-old Alysa Lightcap was seen driving recklessly in West Pottsgrove, running stop signs and nearly hitting several pedestrians and utility poles.

In the court documents, police say a West Pottsgrove police car sent to investigate was run off the road when Lightcap's car came barreling around a curve and completely crossed into his lane.

Lightcap then crossed over into Douglass Township, Berks County, where she was pulled over by police along Farmington Avenue and taken into custody.

According to court documents, Lightcap admitted to using four packets of heroin right before she got behind the vehicle. Police say she consented to a search of her vehicle, which uncovered heroin.

She has been charged with DUI, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute.
