Reading's most recent stabbing is now a homicide.
Robert Bell died at Reading Hospital on Wednesday evening, several hours after he was stabbed, police said.
Bell, 33, was found wounded and barely breathing on a sidewalk in front of a church on North 12th Street, near Windsor, shortly before 1:45 p.m., police said.
Witnesses told investigators that Bell, of the 1200 block of Douglass Street, did nothing to provoke the person who stabbed him, police said.
Investigators blocked off streets in the area as they scoured the scene for evidence.
Police reviewed surveillance video from a nearby store.
The Berks County district attorney signed an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Anthony Clay Rappaselli, who is also from the 1200 block of Douglass Street. He is facing first degree murder charges.
Rappaselli, as a senior, was a standout basketball player for Reading High School this past season.
Police are asking Rappaselli to turn himself in to authorities. If you know anything about his whereabouts, you're asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
