One arrested in connection with Family Dollar shooting

Police say they have arrested and charged a man who took part in a shootout outside a Family Dollar store in Reading, but the case is not closed yet.
Detectives are still looking for the people who drove past the store and engaged in the shootout.
Michelle Caballero and her niece walk past the Family Dollar store in the 400 block of West Douglass Street in Reading every day.
So like many residents, she is relieved to hear that police arrested one of the men allegedly involved in a shootout on March 4.
"I am really glad because there are kids out here that like to play around and there are kids out there that go to school," said Michelle Caballero of Reading.
Michelle's niece attends Northwest Elementary School and often plays at Baer Park.
Both sit next to the Family Dollar where the shooting took place.
"I am very scared. I am scared of people shooting," said Caballero.
Investigators say on March 4 two men, including Jamal Coleman, were leaving the store when a green four-door sedan drove past and started firing shots.
Police say Coleman returned fire and that is why they are charging him with weapons violations, but they say he will not tell them who was driving the vehicle.
"Of course I am concerned. I have my kids out here. If anything happens to them. I worry," said Abimael Vasquez of Reading.
This Family Dollar is no stranger to crime.
There have been several armed robberies, the most recent one just six months ago.
In addition to being concerned about their children, residents are concerned that crime will drive away stores like the Family Dollar and continue hurting West Douglass Street.
"It is a nice place to have. If they take that away we are going to have to pay the high prices at the corner stores," said Vivian Isaac of Reading.
"It is disrespectful. They are really disrespecting Reading," said Caballero.
Coleman remains in the Berks County Jail on $20,000 bail.
