A Reading woman and one of her sons were injured during a fight with another son over food stamps, police said.
Officers were called to the 400 block of Wood Street shortly before midnight Wednesday.
Frances Quinones told police she got into an argument with her older son, Abdiel Hernandez-Quinones, over his ACCESS food stamp card.
The argument, she said, became physical when the woman's younger son attempted to defend his mother, at which time the older son grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his brother in the stomach, according to court documents. The older son also threatened to kill everyone in the house, police said.
Frances Quinones suffered a cut on her right hand when she grabbed the knife from her older son, police said.
Both victims were transported to Reading Hospital for treatment of what police said appeared to be minor injuries.
Abdiel Hernandez-Quinones, 23, was charged with aggravated and simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $15,000 bail.
