Monday is Veterans Day, and family and friends are remembering the sacrifice of a brave soldier from Reading who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Army Specialist Anthony Vargas was honored Sunday during a ceremony at City Park. The 27-year-old was remembered as a loving son, husband and father.
He was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan back in November of 2010.
His family said he joined the military to make a difference in the world and to give.
"He was a loving, caring person he loved his wife and kids He did everything and anything for his kids," said Loida Gonzalez, a relative.
Vargas' family joined together in prayer and released balloons in his memory.
