READING, Pa. -

Commuters will soon have a new way to travel between Reading and Harrisburg, at least for the time-being.

The Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA) and Lebanon Transit (LT)  are teaming up to provide bus service to and from Reading and Harrisburg, through Lebanon County.

The trial service is scheduled to start Sept. 9.

BARTA will operate the route between the newly renovated Franklin Street Station and the LT Transfer Center, with stops in Womelsdorf and Myerstown.

LT buses will travel between the transfer center and the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg, with stops in Annville and Palmyra.

The express fare to and from Lebanon will be $4. It will cost an additional $2 to travel to Harrisburg.

Ridership during the trial period will determine whether the service becomes permanent, officials said.
