The police officer from Berks County who's accused of shoplifting has been fired.

AMITY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

A police officer from Berks County who's accused of shoplifting has been fired.

Officials tell 69 News Amity Township supervisors voted 4-0 on Wednesday to fire Police Corporal Glenn Oesterling for violating the police department's code of conduct.

Authorities in Montgomery County say Oesterling shoplifted from the Giant food store in the Upland Square Shopping Center in West Pottsgrove Township -- twice.

When Oesterling was caught he reportedly told officers he was a police officer, authorities said.

Oesterling's attorney has said his client was shopping for plants and other items outside the store,  and he wasn't done shopping.
