A man who spent nearly a year serving his country overseas is back home and meeting his daughter for the first time.
It was a community celebration in Temple for Joe Madrigale. His family decorated his home and today neighbors lined up to thank him for his 11 months of service in Kuwait.
"I am really excited. I mean, it is really awesome having a soldier coming home in our neighborhood and everything. Yea, we are all looking forward to it," said neighbor Susan Cole.
Madrigale was not just excited to come home to see his wife, but also to meet his 5-month-old daughter Sophia for the first time.
"I was nervous, I was scared, I was excited, I was happy, I was sad. I mean just unexplainable," said National Guard soldier Joe Madrigale.
"It has been a struggle. But we have gotten through it one day at a time and it is all worth it when we got to see him today that is for sure," said Joe's wife, April Madrigale.
Now that the Madrigale family is reunited, they said they are looking forward to making memories together.
"I am just excited to get settled in finally and be a part of my family again," said Joe Madrigale.
"It is a good feeling knowing we are all together finally," said April Madrigale.
Joe is a part of the National Guard. He has been on active duty orders for the last year and a half, so now he said he is extremely happy to be home.
