Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will visit Reading this week, the White House announced Monday.
Biden and U.S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will take part in an event to highlight innovative industry partnerships at Reading Area Community College. It's the latest stop on Biden's “Community College to Career” tour.
Earlier this year, Biden and U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis took a three-day bus tour that focused on the unique role community colleges play in developing a highly-skilled, 21st century workforce to meet emerging regional business needs.
Biden teaches English full-time at a community college in Virginia. Prior to her move to Washington, she taught English at a community college in Delaware, at a public high school and at a psychiatric hospital for adolescents, according to her White House biography.
Biden will also publish a children's book in June. It's titled, "Don't Forget, God Bless Our Troops." The book is told from the point of view of her granddaughter, Natalie Biden, and serves as a tribute to soldiers and their families.
