READING, Pa. -

A Boyertown man will spend up to 40 years in prison for the murder of another man in Berks County last year.

Robert Pfanders pleaded guilty Monday to third degree murder for the deadly shooting of Timothy Reber. Pfanders was sentenced to 15 to 40 years in state prison.

Reber, 31, got into a fight with his girlfriend outside a home in Alsace Township on Feb. 10, 2012, and Pfanders became upset, pulled out a 40-caliber handgun and shot Reber, officials said.

The shooting, police said, followed a night of drinking by the people involved.
