Reading approves budget with per capita tax hike

Reading City Council has approved a per capita tax hike as part of the city's spending plan for next year.

Reading City Council has approved a per capita tax hike as part of the city's spending plan for next year.

The per capita tax will be $20, up from $5. All other tax rates will stay the same.

Council also rejected Mayor Vaughn Spencer's plan to replace property taxes by phasing in a land value tax system.
