Police issue warning about daytime burglaries

MOUNT PENN, Pa. -

Neighbors are on edge in Mt. Penn, Lower Alsace Township, and the borough of St. Lawrence, after they learned police are on the hunt for several burglars.

The Central Berks Regional Police Department says the crimes have been happening during daylight hours.

"And that's why we're fully armed," said Kelly Sanchez, neighbor, who said she wasn't taking any chances. "Not at all. My husband and I are licensed to carry."

The crooks are breaking into homes through the back windows, police said.

Once inside the burglars are stealing flat-screen televisions, jewelry, cameras, and other electric devices.

"All I have to do is knock you down. You do not come into my house," said Sanchez. "I do not play. This is my property, this is my life."

Police encourage residents to be on the lookout for each other's properties and report any and all suspicious persons or vehicles in the area.
