Police in Spring Township, Berks County arrested a man after they say he maced another man in a fitness center parking lot.
Police said William Arndt, 19, of Sinking Spring maced another man after the man tried breaking up a fight at Body Zone in the 3100 block of Paper Mill Road.
According to court documents, the victim told police he arrived at the gym to pick up his son, who informed him that a fight was taking place. The victim tried to break up the fight and detained two males who were involved. One of those men, who police identified as Arndt, the threatened the victim, according to documents.
As the victim returned to his vehicle with his son, police said he heard a knock on his window and opened the door. Officials said the victim saw what he thought was a 38 caliber revolver with a "sure fire light" pointed at his face. Police said Arndt was holding the weapon, which sprayed mace, and used to to spray it into the eyes of the victim, temporarily blinding him.
Police were able to locate Arndt at a Pizza Hut nearby. Arndt admitted to police that he was involved in a fight at Body Zone and that he maced the man.
Arndt was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, and more.
