Patient First, with locations in Berks County and the Lehigh Valley, is offering free digital X-ray imaging of Halloween candy.
Bags of candy may be brought into Patient First Neighborhood Medical Center locations in Allentown, Bethlehem or Spring Twp., Berks Co., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 31.
Patient First urges adults to always inspect the candy before allowing a child to enjoy the sweet rewards of their trick-or-treating.
The free X-ray offer is an additional precaution parents may consider. It will help provide parents peace of mind about the treats their children receive by possibly detecting objects like, glass, metal or plastic, according to Patient First.
Parents still need to provide supervision since some foreign materials may not appear in X-rays, noted Patient First.
As an additional safety measure, from now through Halloween, any child who visits a Patient First Neighborhood Medical Center will receive a safety blinker and Halloween safety tip card. The blinking light may be attached to a child’s Halloween costume and can help increase visibility.
