Police are asking for tips to help catch the person who shot and killed a longtime Toys for Tots volunteer in Reading earlier this month.

It's the Crime Alert Berks County crime of the week.

Najeeb Johnson was in an SUV with two other men when they stopped in the 900 block of Amity Street on New Year's Day to ask for directions, and someone opened fire, police said.

Johnson, 34, was hit and died of his injuries.
