On Monday, there was a major break in a case that has devastated a Berks County community.
Two Americans were charged with manslaughter in connection with the deadly stabbing of a Ruscombmanor Township man who was on a business trip in the Bahamas.
Police said 45-year-old Carl Yerger was found dead a at resort in the island of Bimini.
Yerger, a husband and father of two young boys, was active in his community as President of the Oley Valley Youth League.
On Tuesday, a trial was ordered for an Allentown man charged with the grisly murder of a Schuylkill County woman.
During a preliminary court hearing, officials said 24-year-old Anthony Heath strangled 35-year-old Angela Steigerwalt and dumped her charred remains in a remote area of Carbon County.
Heath was apprehended the following day in North Carolina.
Police said he confessed to the murder.
Wednesday, police stepped up patrols after decapitated chicken heads were found at the entrance of the Berks County Memorial Gardens in Maidencreek Township.
Officials believe it may have been some sort of religious ritual.
This incident comes on the heels of items going missing inside the cemetery.
On Thursday, state police investigated the death of a 92-year-old man following an altercation at the Pinebrook Personal Care and Retirement Center in Schuylkill County.
Police said Fred Govern was taken to the hospital for minor pain and arm abrasions, went into cardiac arrest, and was later pronounced dead.
The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.
Friday, a Berks County convenience store employee was arrested for allegedly stealing $5,000 worth of lottery tickets and pocketing the winnings.
Police said Jordan Groce stole the tickets from a Turkey Hill in Mount Penn.
Officials said surveillance cameras caught Groce stealing the tickets.
