5 people displaced from home by 2-alarm fire in Birdsboro

Five people have been forced to find a new place to live after fire caused extensive damage to their home in Birdsboro, Berks Co.

Five people have been forced to find a new place to live after fire caused extensive damage to their home in Birdsboro, Berks Co.

The fire in the 100 block of South Mill Street on Monday evening went to two alarms before firefighters could bring it under control.

Crews from as far away as Mount Penn responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m.

Everyone inside the home managed to make it out safely, official said. The displaced residents are now staying with family members until repairs can be made to their home.

Officials estimated the amount of damage caused by the fire to be about $150,000. A neighboring house suffered water and smoke damage. 

Investigators have not yet determined what sparked the fire.
