Police are trying to get to the bottom of a bizarre stabbing that left one man behind bars and another in the hospital.
The incident happened Tuesday, just after 1:30 p.m., in the 700 block of Locust Street in Reading, police said.
Neighbors say the man who started the fight has been known to call himself "vampire slayer."
Witnesses say that man lunged at the victim and struck him in the chest with a knife.
The victim was taken away on a stretcher and had to receive stitches.
No word on the victim's condition.
The alleged attacker's landlord, Dario Hernandez, says he saw what happened.
"He was looking for fights and I was trying to separate him and he told me no, no," said Hernandez in Spanish.
Hernandez also said, he, along with several people on the block, are fed up with the alleged attacker's behavior.
They say he has been known to flirt with other men's wives, and parents have complained that he has made inappropriate and lewd comments to young girls.
"He's a little bit fresh, too fresh," said one neighbor who did not want to reveal his name. "Even with the young girls, and I got four daughters around here, you understand me. He's always outside, looking for problems."
Neighbors say the man known as "vampire slayer," has also been known to sit on his porch sharpening sticks, saying he was going to kill someone.
"He was always nice to me. He even gave me food at times. But he did have one little incident with my husband," said Tammy Richardson, neighbor. "One minute he's nice, and then he can just snap."
Police have not released the name of the alleged stabber. But they confirm he is behind bars facing charges of aggravated assault.
