Berks County worker flown to hospital after being injured in accident involving steel beam

DOUGLASS TWP., Pa. -

A worker at a Berks County steel fabricating company was flown to the hospital after falling off a tractor trailer while trying to move a steel beam, officials said.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Cos-Win on Manatawny Road in Douglass Township.

Officials say the worker was attempting to move a piece of steel beam off a tractor when he and the steel beam tumbled off the truck.

The worker sustained a leg injury and head trauma. He was transported to Reading Trauma Center; his condition is unknown at this time. Officials said the worker was conscious and responsive while emergency crews worked on him at the scene.

Officials say the incident was reported to OSHA.
