Berks community rallies to help family devastated by fire

Four days after Christmas, flames ripped through a home on Mount Laurel Road in Muhlenberg Township.
Homeowner Jeffrey Reitnauer tried to save as much as he could from the charred house, but he, his wife and two young sons lost just about everything including their pets.
"Everything is gone," shared Reitnauer back in December. "Their best buddies, the animals, we had two dogs and two cats."
As the family deals with the devastation, the community is rallying behind them.
On Sunday, dozens of folks came out in Fleetwood to help raise some funds.
"We're just, we're here to help, that's what we do," explained Rhonda Sohn.
She is part of the group that organized the event. About 30 venders paid for a spot to sell their goods, many of them donating a portion of their profit to the cause. Sandwiches, baked goods and snacks were also for sale.
"A lot of businesses donated the food," Heather Sustello added. "So everyone's just throwing in what they would like and we're hoping it turns out well."
Raffle tickets drummed up even more money for the family.
"We have a raffle drawing going on right now that has about 50 prizes from different companies," said Sohn.
Almost every penny brought in will go directly to the Reitnauer's -- cash they can certainly use since they plan to rebuild the family home that burned down.
"So far we're at a couple hundred dollars," described Sustello. "With the raffles and donation of food, we're hoping $600 if not more."
"I hope that it can help get them back on their feet and it can restart their life and be able to get past the horrible fire," Keri Moyer shared.
