RESTRICTION: On Monday morning, Aug. 11, the Business Route 222/Bingaman Street Bridge over the Schuylkill River and Norfolk Southern Rail Road will be restricted to a single lane northbound and southbound until further notice.
A recent inspection of the structure found deterioration to ten beams that support the bridge deck. PennDOT is coordinating plans to have a contractor to make repairs to the bridge.
The 1,476 feet long, 59 and a half feet wide, 13-span concrete arch bridge was built in 1920 and rehabilitated in 1966. This section of Business Route 222/Bingaman Street has an average daily traffic volume of 15,876 vehicles.
