Area teams gearing up for PIAA state quarterfinals
Eight teams from our Big Ticket coverage area are still alive in the state playoffs.
Parkland, Catasauqua, Berks Catholic, North Penn, Neshaminy, and Schuylkill Haven will all play PIAA state quarterfinal games this weekend.
The other two teams - Phillipsburg and Hunterdon Central - will be off this weekend before playing their respective New Jersey sectional championship games in two weeks.
Phillipsburg will play Easton in their annual Thanksgiving Day rivalry game at Lafayette's Fisher Stadium.
Catasauqua, which will play a state playoff on Saturday, will also play its Thanksgiving Day rivalry game against Northampton at Muhlenberg's Scotty Wood Stadium.
Here's a look at this weekend's PIAA state quarterfinals involving our area teams.
PIAA 4A STATE QUARTERFINALS
(10-3) North Penn vs. (12-1) Neshaminy -- Friday, 7pm, Souderton HS
(10-3) St. Joe's Prep vs. (12-1) Parkland -- Saturday, 1pm, BASD Stadium
PIAA 2A STATE QUARTERFINALS
(12-1) Catasauqua vs. (12-1) Imhotep Charter -- Saturday, 1pm, Germantown HS
(13-0) Berks Catholic vs. (11-2) Troy -- Saturday, 1pm, Towanda HS
PIAA A STATE QUARTERFINAL
(12-1) Old Forge vs. (10-3) Schuylkill Haven -- Friday, 7pm, Blue Mountain HS
