Police catch teen who took woman's car at gunpoint

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Allentown police have captured a Whitehall teenager who allegedly took a woman's vehicle at gunpoint.

Qwashawn Cruz was taken into custody  at about 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North 14th Street in Allentown.

Police said the car theft happened around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.

A woman told police a man she knew pointed a gun at her following an argument in the 1800 block of Hamilton Street. The man took her vehicle, with her in it, and drove around the city, before pulling over at 9th and Tilghman streets, according to police.

The man, identified as 18-year-old Cruz of 350 Mickley Run Road in Whitehall, faces numerous charges, including unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, simple assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Police recovered the victim's vehicle near Cruz's home.
