READING, Pa. -

Women are donating their time and talent to help needy families.

About 30 women volunteered at two Habitat for Humanity construction sites in Berks County on Tuesday as part of National Women Build Week.

At a site in the 1900 block of Perkiomen Avenue in Reading, volunteers built houses and friendships.

"It's just great to see women come out and get to work with each other," said Nora Hassan, Habitat for Humanity's director of marketing and development. "A lot of women who are working in Berks County and are community leaders getting the opportunity to work together and really make something happen at Habitat for Humanity."

Officials said they hope the house on Perkiomen Avenue is ready for a deserving family by the end of summer.
