West Nile virus found in mosquitoes in Lehigh, Montgomery counties

The West Nile Virus is beginning to take hold here in Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -

The West Nile Virus is beginning to take hold in Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

State environmental officials said they found the virus in mosquitoes in South Whitehall Twp., Lehigh Co. and in Pottstown, Montgomery Co., last week.

No humans have been infected.

West Nile virus first appeared in Pennsylvania in late March in a horse in Northampton County.

The virus first appeared in a mosquito in Berks County earlier this month.
