TRENTON, N.J. -

A case of horse herpes has forced New Jersey agriculture officials to quarantine a Warren County farm.

Officials say a 22-year-old mare at an undisclosed farm was euthanized Sunday; the horse tested positive for EHM - equine herpes myeloencephalopathy.

It's a highly infectious.. often deadly form of EHV-1.. an equine herpes virus.

EHM isn't a danger to humans.

Officials say the horse hadn't left the farm in years and no other horses showed signs of EHM.

This is the third EHM case in New Jersey this year.

Officials say concerned horse owners should talk with their veterinarians.
