A state panel has approved regulations setting tougher standards for Pennsylvania students to meet in order to graduate from high school.

A state panel has approved regulations setting tougher standards for Pennsylvania students to meet in order to graduate from high school.

Students in the class of 2017 will be the first to have to take exams in literature, biology and algebra in order to get a diploma.

The standards still require a legal review from the state attorney general's office.
