A little cake and balloons just wasn't enough.
To celebrate its 90th birthday, and one-year anniversary as a member of the St. Luke's University Health Network, St. Luke's Warren Campus announced plans to expand.
Located at 185 Roseberry Street in Phillipsburg, N.J., the hospital's new expansion will enhance patient care and bring more outpatient services into the community.
Among the plans announced Tuesday:
Patient rooms will be remodeled and the current Intensive Care Unit will be replaced with a state-of-the-art facility within the present hospital that can adjust to accommodate patient needs--from intensive care through standard medical/surgical cases, hospital officials said.
The existing ICU will be renovated into an observation unit for patients who are under observation but not yet admitted.
St. Luke's Warren will seek to expand its base of primary care physicians and recruit specialists in neurology, cardiology and pediatrics. And specialists from the St. Luke's Network will see New Jersey patients at several locations throughout the hospital's service area.
Current area birth rates are too low to reinstate maternity services at St. Luke's Warren, but the hospital will develop a full program of pre- and post-natal care with delivery at St. Luke's in Bethlehem.
Warren Hills Family Practice in Washington, N.J., will expand to include radiology and outpatient physical therapy.
According to St. Luke's President Scott Wolfe, the total investment in the various projects is budgeted at $30 million over the next two years.
“In just one year, the Warren Campus has become a valued partner in the St. Luke’s University Health Network," Wolfe said. "Warren has been a vitally important institution in Phillipsburg for 90 years, and we intend to ensure its presence in the community for many years to come by making sure the hospital has the physicians, facilities and equipment it needs to serve its community.”
