Thieves take bronze cemetery vases worth $97,000

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -

Thieves have made off with more than 200 bronze flower vases from a Monroe County cemetery.

The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is looking for clues in this crime.

Police said at least 243 bronze flower vases were taken from the Prospect Cemetery at 501 Prospect Street in East Stroudsburg over the last few weeks.

Cemetery officials reported the theft of 71 vases on February 27 and 172 more on March 28.

The vases are valued between $300 and $400 each, for a total value of between $73,000 and $97,000.

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to call police at 570-421-6800.
