The Lehigh Valley rings in 2013

No matter what your interest, the Lehigh Valley offered a little something for everyone to usher in 2013.
Sure, Times Square may have its crystal ball, but you won't hear a "peep" out of folks at the Bethlehem SteelStacks.
"We came to watch the Peep drop," said Renae Bennett of Slatington.
At PEEPSFEST, the Peep actually dropped at sunset, so the kids could get in on the New Year's Eve action. For young Luke Wyatt, it was a tough sell.
"What do you think of the Peeps Fest -- the whole peeps drop?" we asked him.
"Eh," he shrugged.
In Easton, the Crayola Experience put on a party that only Crayola could create: three stories of activities for the little ones.
"A countdown with streamers," said Kristin Luise, the Crayola Experience's marketing manager. "We've had a character parade. We've had bounce houses that kids can go in, and there's going to be a dance party and 'Doodle in the Dark.'"
Allentown's downtown party on Hamilton Street featured an ice slide and two stages of live music.
"This is all free, this festival," said event co-chair Ann Saurman. "There's horse and carriage rides, a 25-foot ice slide. There's an ice carver."
And of course, there's the famous bell drop. It was enough to lure Anna Mease of Bucks Co. away from the Big Apple.
"We originally wanted to go to New York, but then we found that there are so many places that drop cool things," she said. There's, like, a bologna drop, a Peep drop, and then the bell drop, and so we thought we'd come over and see it!"
New Year's Eve capped off Allentown's 250th birthday year, by the way.
