A Lehigh County township is planning to file the third lawsuit over Allentown's Neighborhood Improvement Zone.

UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa. -

A Lehigh County township is planning to file the third lawsuit over the Neighborhood Improvement Zone in Allentown.

The solicitor of Upper Saucon Township said he will file a suit challenging the NIZ, which is the zone that's helping to fund Allentown's hockey arena.

The solicitor said the township decided not to join the existing lawsuit filed by Hanover and Bethlehem townships in Northampton County.

Upper Saucon, he said, has some issues with the NIZ that aren't addressed in that suit.

Officials in Allentown said they have no comment on the township's plan to file.

Lehigh Valley developer Abe Atiyeh has also filed a lawsuit challenging the NIZ.
