A break-in at Daniel Boone High School over the weekend has led police to arrest one of the school's students.
Daniel Schnable was apprehended Monday morning, state police said.
Schnable, 18, of Douglassville, got inside the school around midnight Saturday by smashing a glass front door, said Gary Otto, superintendent, Daniel Boone Area School District.
Schnable then broke into three classrooms inside the building and stole approximately $400 in fundraising money from one of the rooms, said police.
The district believes the student acted alone in the break-in, which wasn't discovered until Sunday afternoon, Otto said. Schnable was identified on surveillance video, police said.
"The student was called up to the office and confessed to his wrongdoing," said Lt. Craig Stine, Pa. State Police.
Students Olivia Imes and Ky Brauler said the stolen cash was fundraising money they were collecting for Relay for Life. So far, they said the student body has raised more than $2,000 through a variety of efforts.
"We sold some chocolate, brownies, stuff like that," said Imes.
"Why would you go in school and break into a school that you go to and take money for a good cause?" said Brauler.
"It probably doesn't make me or any of my friends feel safe knowing that people can just get in when they wish," said Jeremy Wheeler, a student.
Schnable was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, institutional vandalism and receiving stolen property.
