Student: We should re-evaluate binge drinking

Grief counselors are on hand at Lafayette College to help students and staff cope with losing one of their own.
Everett Glenn's mother tells us her son was out Friday night celebrating his 19th birthday. She believes the amount of alcohol he drank is the reason he was found in his dorm unresponsive Saturday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There's a noticeable sense of sadness on this tight knit campus.
"Definitely right after it happened there was a very somber mood on campus," explained senior Jacob From. "It was just something you could feel, no one was really acting the way they usually do."
While co-eds were celebrating the end of the year at school sponsored 'All-College Day', freshman Everett Glenn was in his dorm near death. He died a short time later at the hospital.
"It really just shook everyone because everyone was just out having fun with their friends," said Christina Macioch.
According to Glenn's mother, doctors said her son died of a heart attack after he passed out and vomited in his mouth. She thinks all the alcohol he drank is to blame.
"If that was the problem I don't think that it's a problem that's particular to Lafayette or necessarily particular to him," said Carolyn Isaac. "It's just college culture."
Other students we spoke to say the weekend after classes end and before final exams begin is traditionally a big time for partying and drinking.
"I would be surprised if we have an 'All-College Day' again, which is too bad," said Tanner Flanigan. "With something like this happening we kinda need to reevaluate the whole binge drinking situation."
He says students need to be more responsible and watch out for each other.
But in the end, it's the life Glenn lived that touched so many here.
"He was always smiling, no matter what," said friend Tristan Thompson.
The school is in the process of planning a memorial service for later in the week.
Glenn's funeral is set for Saturday in New Jersey.
