He answered the call of duty for our country. Now it's time to return the favor.
A Hollywood star is on hand Friday night at the State Theatre in Easton to give a special salute to a soldier from Whitehall Twp., Lehigh Co.
The response was enormous when the concert was announced.
"The tickets just started to fly out of here," explained John Hodge, with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. "And every last seat is sold out for tonight."
Nearly 1,500 people will be inside the State Theatre to see Gary Sinese and the Lt. Dan Band rock out. They filled the house to build a new house for one of America's heroes.
"To build Adam a smart home that he so richly deserves after the sacrifices he made in Afghanistan," said Catherine Christman, with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
While serving in Afghanistan in 2010, Army Sgt. Adam Keys and his unit were hit by a roadside bomb. Keys lost both his legs and his left hand.
"The Tunnel to Tower Foundation and the Gary Sinese Foundation formed a partnership. It's called Building for America's Bravest," said Hodge. "And this year, we're building 14 homes for either quadruple or triple amputees."
Friday night kicks off the effort to build Keys a new home filled with technology to make his life easier.
"By working things on a iPad, say the kitchen cabinets come down or the shelves in the cabinets come down which enables folks again to be independent," explained Christman.
Every penny raised at the concert will go toward construction.
"Just because the show sold out doesn't mean you still can't buy a ticket to what is happening here and that's what it's all about," smiled Shelley Brown, with the State Theatre.
