The state Senate has signed off on half a dozen new bills in the wake of the Sandusky scandal.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -

The state Senate has signed off on half a dozen new bills in the wake of the Sandusky scandal.

Senators passed the bills Wednesday sending them to the state House for consideration.

The bills are meant to strengthen child abuse laws in Pennsylvania.

They would set broader rules for who is responsible for a child's welfare, who can be considered a perpetrator of child abuse and who must report a case of suspected abuse to authorities.
