Spirit Of Courage Awards honors people that go above and beyond

It's time to honor people who put their lives on the line to save others during emergencies.
One man says if he faced the situation again, he would run right back into the burning home.
Six hundred people were on the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg campus to celebrate 14 people who organizers say have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
"We hear so much about the negative," said Dan Dillard, CEO of the Burn Prevention Network. "But there are people out there that are just doing extraordinary things on behalf of their fellow man."
One of those in the crowd was Allentown native Kenneth Martin.
"I just ran in there and did what anybody should do," said Martin.
It may sound simple, but on April 23rd, Martin ran into a home after seeing an orange glow across the street from his work place on North Seventh and Washington streets in Allentown.
He remembers seeing the first person in need.
"The little boy in the window," said Martin. "I got kids, I've got a little boy. If it was my little boy I would want somebody to run in and get him. It's the only thing I kept thinking about is that little kid in the window."
The ceremony is to honor heroes.
Kenneth Martin says he does not feel he's a hero; as a matter of fact he says he's more nervous about receiving the award than he was running into the building.
"I really believe that the people that do it every day are the real heroes," added Martin. "I thank them every day for what they do."
Martin was nominated for the award by Allentown Fire Chief Robert Scheirer.
The chief also helped Martin repay a debt.
"What Kenny failed to mention is that the fire extinguisher from the bar he was told he had to replace," said Scheirer. "So we are honored to replace that for him."
