The Berks County Sheriff's Department said some of its unused equipment is going to be put to good use.
The sheriff donated two, lightly used K9 bulletproof vests to the K9 Assistance Foundation on Thursday. That agency will get the vests to a department in need.
One sheriff's deputy we spoke with said the vests are still in good shape...
"These vests are very similar to the same vests we wear," said Kyle Pagerly. "They protect them against ballistics and stabbing and things like that."
Officials with the Sheriff's Department said they recently received some new K9 vests, so they're happy the old ones can still be used.
